1Fe-LSD is the latest research substance from the LSD derivative family, which was introduced at the end of November 2025. It was developed to be very similar to classic LSD structures and is used exclusively for scientific and chemical research. Unlike 1S-LSD, which was banned in Germany on 21 November 2025, 1Fe-LSD contains a special chemical group called ferrocene with an iron atom, which currently makes it a legal research substance.
Chemical characteristics of 1Fe-LSD
– Molecular formula: C₃₁H₃₄N₃O₂Fe
– Molar mass: 536.46 g/mol (approximately 40% heavier than classic LSD)
– Structure: LSD backbone with a ferrocene attachment (organometallic group with iron)
– Colour: Due to the ferrocene attachment, the substance is orange in colour, which is helpful for analytical purposes.
Ferrocene is a stable building block that is frequently used in chemical research. The amount of ferrocene in 1Fe-LSD is low (in the microgram range) and to date there have been no independent studies on possible toxicological effects.
State of pharmacological research
1Fe-LSD is being studied in research due to its similarity to LSD and 1S-LSD. It is believed to act on the same receptor (5-HT2A) that is responsible for the psychedelic effects of LSD. To date, there are no official studies in humans or animals that confirm the behaviour or side effects of this substance. The entire assessment is based on structural analyses and analogous data.
Legal situation in Germany and most EU countries
– 1Fe-LSD is currently not covered by the New Psychoactive Substances Act (NpSG), as it does not have a silicon attachment like 1S-LSD.
– It is therefore classified as a legal research substance and may be used for scientific purposes.
